Kate Beckinsale says being married to a film director can pose problems.

Speaking to Los Angeles Confidential, the actress said: "I hate being married to a director because he works so much and he's away a lot, and that's lame."

Beckinsale has been married to director Len Wiseman for four years after the pair met on the set of action film Underworld.

"Married life is good. I feel like we're oldly-wed though, because it's three years, and from what I can gather, that's a really long time here (in Hollywood)," she said.

"I feel like we're in our dotage somewhat. We were actually just saying the other night we wish we could get married again now that we've been together three years. We'd have more fun, I think; we wouldn't be trying to be so cool."
