Prince William canceled his Valentine's Day celebrations with Kate Middleton because of work commitments.

After rumours of a split , Kate, 26, wanted to meet for crisis talks about their relationship.

But Prince William's bosses are said to have refused William time off.

'He thought he could slip out but the RAF wanted everyone to stay on base,' an insider tells the Sunday People.

'Kate was going to drive and meet him halfway in Lincolnshire. Instead they sent cards and will exchange gifts [later].'
