Poor Britney Spears was on the run right after the clock struck 5 p.m. according to TMZ.com. And that means paparazzi were ready to cash checks and demand big bucks, as they are also camped around her house.

The chase followed Spears in her brand new Mercedes to the Beverly Hills Hotel. News choppers and a parade of at least 20 SUVs of paparazzi followed the recently released singer. At the close of the race, cops came to intervene and escort Britney inside.

At this point, they need to leave the girl alone; she's on thin ice!
