John Mayer and Friday Night Lights star Minka Kelly are over.

Sources tell Us that the couple, who began dating last fall, recently broke up at Mayer's request. "John initiated the split," says a source. "He just wasn't ready to commit to Minka or to anyone."
"She was disappointed to say the least. She was really happy but wanted a full commitment."
A source close to Mayer tells Us, "From his perspective, he is single and has been seen out with her. Nobody ever said he was planning a wedding with anyone."
