Model Carla Bruni says she and French President Nicolas Sarkozy have yet to say "I Do!"

Critics accuse Sarkozy of using her to distract from the country's political problems, US reports

Carla tells French left-wing newspaper Liberation, "[we] are "not yet married, even if we are planning to.".

She calls the focus on their relationship "a hurricane of madness."

She also says she has no plans to accompany Sarkozy, the country's first unmarried president, on official visits — including one later this week to New Delhi.

"I cannot take part in an official visit with the president," she says. "It's regretful."
