She's been so patient with the whole thing. Since Vanessa became involved with Nick, she knew of his widely-publicized heartbreak over his failed marriage and figured she'd just bide her time. It's only recently that she's started to pipe up about how long it's taking. She was even heard making an ultimatum, that Nick marry her before the new year. I don't know. He doesn't seem to be in any kind of hurry.
My grandmother always said a man won't buy the cow when he can get the milk for free. Nick is very much an old-fashioned kind of guy who married Jessica for her alleged virtue. Her excessive partying and alleged infidelity toward the end of their marriage just wrecked him.
Vanessa has been good for Nick's male ego. She's a pretty, sexy girl who likes to travel and have fun - sometimes too much, but he's tamed her down some. There haven't been any brawling or breaking noses whispered about for a while, too. They seem to be getting along well, and I doubt Nick wants anything to change. I think the only way he'd marry Vanessa now would be if she was pregnant. She must know that, but isn't a baby-craving kind of girl. Look for this lukewarm romance to eventually just fizzle out, like root beer left in a hot car. Pffft.
