Nicole Richie wants her baby's sex to be a surprise

Despite the rumors to the contrary, Nicole Richie does not know the sex of her unborn child. Her boyfriend, the baby's father Joel Madden, wants the sex to be a surprise. Nicole told "Access Hollywood," "I like to know everything. If [Joel] wasn't at every doctor's appointment, I probably would have found out by now just behind his back and not told him."

Nicole also spoke about how her pregnancy has affected her relationships. She said, "When I found out that I was pregnant, there was just something inside of me that felt a responsibility to mend any issues that I've had with my parents in the past, because, listen, I've put them through a lot."

Of her father Lionel Richie – who doesn't want to be called "grandpa," Nicole said, "[The baby] is all he talks about, actually."

With all the excitement in her life right now, Richie says that getting married can wait. She and Joel do not have any wedding plans. "I got to hold something for when I get older. I can't have everything happen in one year," she said.
