Eminem's mother has branded her son's 'hard done by' image a sham.
Mother, Debbie Nelson, says the 35-year-old white rapper invented a rough upbringing to fit into the music industry.
Among Nelson's reported claims, she accuses the 'Stan' singer of beating her up on his 23rd birthday, in new tell-all book 'My Son Marshall, My Son Eminem' scribed by British ghost writer, Annette Witheridge.
Following years of being a target of hatred from her son's fans, Nelson says: 'After his first album, Infinite, flopped, he reinvented himself as white trailer trash with a crazy welfare mom. I was shocked when I first heard the lyrics... but he constantly reassured me it was all a big joke... I went along with it for Marshall's sake.'
