Joel Madden ready to become a father

Nicole Richie's pregnancy may have come as a surprise to her boyfriend Joel Madden, but he couldn't be any more pleased about becoming a father. He told People magazine, "Having a baby is the most exciting thing that's ever happened to me, and to us."

Back in Los Angeles after touring with his band Good Charlotte in Australia, Joel said, "Now we're just getting home, getting settled in L.A. and getting ready." According to a source for the New York Daily News, Joel has been "babyproofing" the couple's home.

The insider also claims that impending parenthood has caused another change for Madden. He is working on expanding his family's clothing line, DCMA to include baby clothes. The source says, "[Joel and his brothers] are screening tiny tees and onesies for the new baby. Joel has all kinds of ideas for baby clothes and he gets such a kick out of them when he sees how small they are!"
