Ellen Pompeo weds Chris Ivery

While her "Grey's Anatomy" co-stars may be pondering their work options during the writer's strike, Ellen Pompeo decided to use the strike as an opportunity to quietly wed her longtime boyfriend and fiancé of one year, Chris Ivery. The pair tied the knot last Friday at New York's City Hall.

Pompeo and Ivery, both 38, married with Mayor Michael Bloomberg as their witness. He wished the couple "a lifetime of happiness."

Bloomberg's rep told Us Weekly, "The Mayor was in midtown for his weekly radio show, and he came back [downtown] for a series of meetings at City Hall, and this was one of the things he had planned. The Mayor was gracious."

Ellen's father Joseph confirmed the news to People magazine, "I'm very happy for her," he said. "She just didn't want a big thing."
