What is Jennifer Connelly Wearing? Tablecloth? Bathmat? Backwards Kimino?

She's beautiful. She's talented. She also must be fairly brave to wear such an actively unappealing dress. It's got nothing to do with her looks or body. It just hangs there, begging someone to do something - anything! - to ruin it. Forever. Blecch.

While Jennifer has never been a fashion plate, she's never gone this far. She's crossed the line from regrettably unfashionable to Chloe Sevigny badlands. Her husband probably attended the event but refused to be photographed with her.

Nothing about this dress is right. That thick, stiff-looking collar might work with a tailored dress or belted tunic, but not a babydoll hemline. Likewise on the sleeves; if they didn't look three sizes too big for her spindly arms, she might have been able to get away with it. But these things, combined with that leaf-looking thing across the front make her look like she's on her way to a finger-painting class. Ivory is a bad color for such a pasty-skinned girl, too.

Jennifer would look so much better in something with deep, vibrant colors, like a strapless column dress or belted shirtdress. Only teenyboppers and mannequins look good in babydolls.
