This is not to say that Rosie doesn't have any talent. On the contrary, when Rosie is acting (read: pretending to be someone else) she can put on an exceptional performance, as she has on Nip/Tuck. I also thought she was great in A League of Their Own (and if I'm dating myself, so be it; it's the only movie Madonna didn't destroy with her very presence).

But Rosie, when left to her own devices, cannot resist getting on her soapbox and ramming her views down the throat of the nearest person who dares disagree with any of her edicts. She's a bright woman who wears her heart on her sleeve after it's been bent, folded and mutilated, the better for you to feel her agony. Share with Rosie her most intimate, deeply personal heartbreak - because it's all your fault somehow.

Like her blog, Rosie's new book, Celebrity Detox, is said to be difficult to take, at turns painfully honest and shallow self-help-filled drivel. The early reviews are as bad as they could possibly be, with one reviewer saying, "This is a train wreck of a book".

When the book's release was announced, Rosie's publicist said she would be sitting down with Diane Sawyer instead of her former boss, Barbara Walters.

Then her interview with Diane was canceled, and now there will be no promotions at all for the book. The official reason given was that the subject matter was too deeply personal for Rosie to dredge it up again and again in appearances and interviews, but more likely it's the fact that Rosie will try to distance herself from this gibberish as fast as she can.
