Owen Wilson DRINKING AGAIN?
Owen and a friend entered the hotel around 10 p.m. and requested the private library room; they were joined there later by several more people. “They had bottle service and were drinking vodka, says a witness. “Owen got so drunk, he stumbled when he went to leave. He could hardly walk. It was clear he’d had too much.
Even when Owen, 38, first arrived at the bar, “he looked like he’d already been drinking, hotel guest Jamie Brandt tells Life & Style. “He was stumbling when he came in and literally falling down when he left. (Reps for Owen strongly deny he was drunk, insisting he had just one drink.)
It didn’t stop at one night of partying. On Oct. 12, Owen and three friends returned to the Viceroy at 8 p.m. “He headed straight to the private room, says the witness. “He ordered Patrón Silver tequila on the rocks. None of his friends tried to stop him from drinking.
The group stayed in the library for four hours. “Owen was drinking steadily the whole time, says the witness. “But he wasn’t stumbling around.
Owen’s behavior is troubling some of the star’s friends. After he left Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in August amid reports that he was depressed and had a substance-abuse problem, “Owen was unwilling to go to rehab, says a friend. Instead, he spent most of his time with family.
In the past few weeks, the friend says, Owen has begun refocusing on work but has also resumed seeing old pals — like Steve Coogan. “He was unwilling to leave his drinking buddies behind, says his friend. “This is why he couldn’t stay sober.
Though Owen had reportedly been to rehab in the past, “I thought this time was different, the friend adds. “I thought the suicide attempt would be a wake-up call.
Owen doesn’t have a drinking problem, says the Owen insider. In fact, a Wilson family insider believes, “the family approached this as a mentalhealth problem as opposed to a substance-abuse issue. So Owen’s goal wasn’t to sober up, it was to feel better about himself. |
