Though they had split just weeks earlier, friends claimed that they were trying to make it work. Little did Jessica know that two days later, Cash would pick up a 20-year old model in New York City, In Touch Weekly reports.

A friend of the model says Cash, 28, hooked up with blond Vera Mishina at a basketball game in New York on August 24. “Vera had a job as a promotional model at the game, and Cash was there with some friends,�? the pal, who was there, tells In Touch. “He was staring at her all night. When the game ended, Cash walked up to her. He was saying, ‘You are so beautiful. You look so hot. ’

When Cash asked Vera to meet him at the bar in the W hotel in Times Square, she returned with a group of girlfriends — including the pal. “Cash went straight for Vera,�? the friend recalls. “It seemed like he really liked her. We were all drinking and hanging out, and Cash asked us to go to his room.�?

Cash and Vera “started making out as soon as we got into the room,�? the pal says. “He couldn’t take his hands off her! The rest of us left, but Vera told me that she and Cash made love that night, and again the next morning.�?

Cash didn’t seem to view it as a one-night stand, telling Vera he’d be “back in town on September 20.�? His flirtatious text messages to Vera lasted until August 28 — when she broke things off after reading that he and Jessica were back together. “It really upset her,�? says the pal. “She felt so used.�? When contacted, Vera told In Touch, “I can’t talk about that night.�?

While a pal insists Cash was “heartbroken�? when Jessica broke up with him after almost three years together, he clearly wasn’t too upset to pursue a relationship with another woman. And when In Touch asked Cash for a comment, he didn’t deny the encounter.

And perhaps Jessica has some inkling that it may not work out in the long run. When David Letterman asked her on September 6 if she’d ever fallen in love at first sight, Jessica turned pensive. “Yeah,�? she said. Asked how it turned out, she replied, “It’s still trying to figure itself out.�?
