When Britney Spears gave her now infamous performance of "Gimme More" at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, many suspected that drugs were to blame for clumsiness. An insider confirmed the suspicion to British newspaper, the Sun, claiming Britney had taken a huge dosage of anti-depressants.

The source claims, "The scene in the dressing room before the show was one of absolute blind panic. [Britney] knew she hadn't rehearsed enough and was going to mess up the whole show and possibly her career - then she saw her hairdo and it was the final straw. She went into a wild rage and started lashing out at everyone - including her stylist."

In order to calm down the frenzied popstar, a doctor was brought to the Palms to supply her with anti-depressants. Said the snitch, "Britney took enough to floor an elephant. They calmed her down, but were clearly too effective."
