Beyonce Knowles' Kuala Lumpur concert canceled

Beyonce Knowles' Kuala Lumpur concert scheduled to take place November 1 has been canceled following protests by local Muslim groups.

Kuala Lumpur-based concert promoter Pineapple Concerts issued a statement Friday announcing the cancellation -- without giving a reason -- of what would have been the Beyoncé’s Malaysian debut performance.

A ministry official says Pineapple had not applied for a licence to hold the concert. Industry sources tell Billboard magazine that Pineapple did not apply for a license because Beyoncé, 26, refused to comply with the dress code.
