It began like many nights do for Britney Spears. After a late dinner with two guy friends on Aug. 11, she headed with them to a party at a Hollywood Hills mansion to meet up with her cousin and assistant, Alli Sims. There, a witness says she drank champagne, sucked on grape lollipops and disappeared into a bedroom with pals for about an hour.
But around 3 a.m., Brit’s ex Kevin Federline dropped a bomb in the custody battle for their sons. As Alli left the party, she was served with a subpoena requiring her to testify about Brit’s parenting practices. “Alli was absolutely shocked,� says the witness.
Kevin had filed for primary custody of Sean Preston, 22 months, and Jayden James, 10 months, on Aug. 8 — an insider says Kev’s requesting the kids five days a week as well as even more money - but Britney still didn’t see this coming, LIFE & STYLE WEEEKLY reports.
“Britney’s just starting to get it,� says the insider. “Even right after Alli was served, her reaction was, ‘I don’t understand — why would Kevin do this?’ Now it’s sunk in that this is serious.�
