Usher's wedding to Tameka Foster canceled

He was scheduled to have a lavish wedding on Saturday in the Hamptons, but 28-year-old R&B star Usher (Raymond) isn’t confessing why he didn’t go through with marrying his 37-year-old stylist Tameka Foster. Instead, his rep issued a vague statement about the canceled nuptials that read, "It was announced today that the wedding ceremony for Usher Raymond IV and Tameka Foster was canceled. No additional information will be given regarding the circumstances of the cancellation, but we hope the privacy of this matter will be respected."

The pair were scheduled to marry in front of 70-100 guests at record executive L.A. Reid's home, reports People magazine. According to the New York Post, among the invited guests were Beyonce, Jay Z, Janet Jackson and Jermaine Dupri. Because of her dislike for Foster, Usher’s mother Jonetta Patton did not initially receive an invitation, but a source for the New York Daily News said, "Jonetta was invited to the wedding at the last minute, but she didn't want to go. She's not a hypocrite. As much as she loves her son, she's not going to pretend that everything's fine.?

It would have been Usher’s first marriage and Foster’s second. Foster is currently pregnant with Usher’s child, which is due in the fall. Usher’s rep refused to states whether the pair are still planning on marrying at a later date or if they have split for good.

One insider told People, "Usher's mother is against the wedding. That is one of the main obstacles. They only decided two weeks ago to have a wedding. They wanted to have it take place before the baby bump started showing."

Another source revealed, "Usher changed his mind…[They] had a lot of differences about the details. For example, the bride wanted barbeque, [and] he wanted to have [renowned chef] Jean Georges cook.?

Says the source, the wedding "was on again off again for the past few days. [Foster] was calling it off because she wasn't getting the things that she wanted. The mother was calling it off…Usher was calling it off."

A third snitch told People, "The tents were up. And they paid all of the people, the vendors, so that wasn't an issue…Hotel rooms were an issue. Janet [Jackson] was coming, but she had eight security people. Ashanti and Nelly were coming."

The New York Daily News speculated that Foster’s decision to do a tell-all interview with the National Enquirer upset Usher, causing him to call off their nuptials. In the interview, Foster revealed that she was an ex-con and that her ex-boyfriend, a drug dealer, had been murdered. An “industry insider? confirmed this story to Sandrarose.com, stating, “My sources are saying The National Enquirer story did it, and the wedding was called off last night.?
