Steve Martin weds girlfriend in surprise ceremony

Steve Martin is now a married man for the second time. He wed his 35-year-old girlfriend Anne Stringfield on Saturday at his home in Los Angeles, confirmed his rep to the Associated Press.

The event’s 75 guests included Tom Hanks, Diane Keaton, Eugene Levy and Carl Reiner. They were invited to a “party�? not knowing that it would, in fact, be a wedding. The ceremony was presided over by former Senator Bob Kerrey. “Saturday Night Live�? creator Lorne Michaels served as the best man.

Stringfield, who wore Vera Wang, has dated Martin for three years. She is a writer and former staffer of the New Yorker. It is her first marriage. Martin, 61, was married for eight years to actress Victoria Tennant. During Saturday’s wedding, he had a mustache because he is about to reprise his role of Inspector Clouseau for a Pink Panther sequel.
