The report says that on the eve of the concert, Kate left her London apartment and arrived at Clarence House, Prince William's London home, around midnight.
The couple split up in April after a four year relationship filled with speculation of wedding bells.
Prince William gave the boldest indication that he's back together with his old flame when he invited her and her family to sit in the royal box at Wembley stadium for the concert celebrating his mother's life.
The two still managed to keep everyone guessing by not sitting together.
One loosed-lipped royal source told the paper, "They are of course close friends and have remained so since April.
But they both want space and do not want to conduct their friendship with the added attention and pressure of more speculation.
They particularly did not want their friendship to be the focus of media attention. Yesterday was about Diana and celebrating her life and work."
