The pair spent an hour and a couple hundred dollars on June 21 shopping in the exclusive Bel Bambini baby boutique in West Hollywood. “Nicole is a regular shopper around here,? a source tells Star. “Every time I’ve seen her in the past she was always wearing clothes that showed off her figure. But when she was at Bel Bambini with Joel, she was in a baggy dress, big sunglasses, and flats, the kind of outfit a pregnant woman wears.?
Nicole picked out a green and brown Born Out of Necessity diaper bag, two Hot Rod boys T-shirts and three bars of organic soaps with tiny toys embedded in them. Nicole also checked out a $63 pacifier decorated with Swarovski crystals in the shape of a baseball, baby furniture, strollers and lotions.
“Joel asked, ‘Is there anything specific that you would use on a baby?’? says the source. “That’s the kind of question a new parent asks who wants to learn what to buy their little one.?
“I asked them if they were shopping for a friend and they said, no. It was obvious they were buying for themselves. When they got to the register, Nicole whispered to Joel, ‘Wait till my dad finds out.’ She was giddy the entire time, and you could tell she was excited to be there.?
Lionel Richie may already know, when asked at a Hollywood event if he’d be up for some babysitting, he coyly replied, “Maybe!?
With a baby on the way, Nicole and Joel are definitely planning to get hitched. First, thought, Nicole has to keep a July 11 court date stemming from her DUI arrest last December. Joel has been touring in Europe with his band, Good Charlotte, but has a break performing until early August, when he joins JT’s North American tour.
Pals think Nicole has found true love – and can’t wait to start a family with Joel and their baby. “When they first started dating, Joel said he wanted a family,? a friend of Nicole tells Star. “It’s happening sooner than they expected, but that’s OK. They’re really happy together, and they’re in love.?
