Many suspected that Kate, who shares many similarities with William’s mother Princess Diana, would marry William and possibly become Queen. Now the couple have apparently reunited and Kate was seen at the Concert for Diana in London on Sunday, but some say they never actually broke up to begin with.
Christopher Andersen, who has written a book about the Royal Family and follows their lives, told Page Six that he was surprised when news broke that Kate and William had broken up. He spoke with many friends of the couple following the split and said, "Almost no one I spoke with really believed it…Everyone was expecting an imminent announcement that they were getting engaged and then boom - it was supposedly all off. Everyone was in total shock."
Andersen went on, "Their closest friends believe it was all a ruse to get Britain's voracious tabloid press off Kate's back…William has had recurring nightmares that Kate would meet the same fate [as his mom, Princess Diana], literally chased to her death by paparazzi."
Perhaps to allow himself some sleep for a while, William suggested "that they simply make it look as if the romance was completely over,? says Andersen. “The strategy worked, even though they were in almost constant touch via phone, e-mail and text-messaging ever since."
Meanwhile, a source for Britain’s News of the World claims that William and Kate did break up, but only temporarily. The insider said, "William and Kate did have a fallout and they did break up, but they were back together within days.?
After they reunited, says the snitch, "William and Kate realized it was a perfect opportunity to try to get rid of some of the pressure they were facing. The rumors about them getting engaged were getting stronger and stronger and they couldn't cope with it. They also knew they would look a bit daft getting straight back together after such a public fallout.?
Another tattler told News of the World, "There is a group of about eight that Kate and William trust. They knew what was going on and kept it a secret and helped them plan their romance away from the public eye. William and Kate never intended to fool anybody or cause a stir. But that time out of the spotlight has been brilliant. Now people don't think they are about to walk down the aisle, they think they are just patching up their relationship."
