One concertgoer told the Mirror’s 3AM Girls, "Everyone thought Amy was acting rather strangely. She was wobbling around the stage, muttering to herself, swearing and slapping herself in the face. It was as though she was trying to snap herself out of something."
At one point, the “Back to Black� singer began hitting herself over the head with a microphone because she was unable to remember the words to her songs. Said a witness, “Her first two songs were fine then she went running off stage. After she came back she was hitting her head over and over.�
One audience member told the Sun, "She seemed to wipe away tears on two occasions and by the end she looked a very distressed lady." Amy also took a break mid-show to have words with her husband Blake Fielder-Civil backstage. But it was her decision to spit at the crowd that caused many audience members to leave early.
A frustrated fan told the Daily Mail, "The gig became absolutely awful. Members of her entourage were coming on to the stage, obviously worried she couldn't go on, and she would just shout "f*** off" at them. Everyone in the crowd just felt sorry for her."
Winehouse’s rep explained away the incident, telling 3AM, "Amy was annoyed with herself. She is a bit ring-rusty after not having played for a while and was upset after making a few mistakes in the set."
