Paris Hilton out of jail — for now

Blonde beauty Paris Hilton has been released from prison, after just three days.

Jail officials say that Paris Hilton was released from jail to serve home confinement for undisclosed "medical issues," it likely isn't because she's physically unfit.

The hotel heiress - who received a 23-day sentence, reduced from 45 days, for driving with a suspended licence - has left California's Century Regional Detention Facility and been put on 40-day house arrest.

Steve Whitmore, spokesman for the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, revealed Paris had been fitted with an ankle bracelet which will be used to keep track of her whereabouts.

Whitmore could not give out exact details of the socialite's ailment due to US privacy laws, saying: "I cannot specifically talk about the medical situation other than to say that yes, it played a part in this."

Paris, 26, will be confined to living within a space of around 3,000 to 4,000 square feet at her lavish home for the duration of her tagging, and will not be allowed out for any social or work-related events.

Meanwhile, sources tell Usmagazine.com that Hilton, spent much of her solitary 23 hours every day at L.A.'s Century Regional Detention Facility exercising.

One source says she was "doing jumping jacks and her own little Pilates exercises and stretches" to keep "her blood flowing."

In fact, another source familiar with Hilton's daily detention regime tells Us that her workout plan was paying off. The source says that after two days of much crying and being "scared to death," Hilton, who was visited by her pyshciatrist three times during her stay, had rebounded by Wednesday.

Says a source, "Her attitude is that God doesn't put you through anything you can't handle. She wants to emerge from this a better person, and everyone in her family knows she will."

A source close to Hilton insisted that Hilton was "being treated no better and no worse than any other inmate," adding that a news report that Paris had asked for - and received - an extra blanket because she was cold is "not true." The source added, "She has just one blanket."
