A source told the New York Daily News newspaper: "Cuba was picking up dinner
at Roscoe's House of Chicken 'n' Waffles for his family on the night of
Memorial Day. He saw a young kid holding his head and walked toward him. The
kid was bleeding from his neck and collapsed."
Gooding ran over to the victim - described as around 20 years old - and
cradled him as he shouted to the restaurant to bring him towels.
When staff emerged with paper towels, the 'Jerry Maguire' star said: "No, we
need real towels!"
Gooding, 39, managed to stem the bleeding before stopping a passing police
car.
He waited with the wounded man until an ambulance arrived.
At the time of writing, the victim's condition was said to be improving.
Gooding is currently starring in 'Hero Wanted' alongside Ray Liotta.
Meanwhile, Cuba Gooding Jr. will produce and is attached to star in "Harold," an edgy teen comedy produced and financed by Danny Fisher's City Lights Pictures and Morris S. Levy of M.E.G.A Films.
"Harold" revolves around the title character, a premature balding young teen trying to adapt to a new high school. Gooding will play the school janitor who befriends and helps him through merciless teasing.
