Love, 42, says her doctor recently discovered pre-op nodules in her throat reports PEOPLE. "He guessed exactly how much I smoke too and told me I'll have to get surgery," she writes.

The former Hole singer, says that when she quits, she expects to gain the weight back: "I need to stop unless ... I want surgery in a year, and two or three days off on tour is not economically feasible, so my thin phase is gonna go soon."

Meanwhile, Courtney returned to the stage at the House of Blues in Los Angeles! Miss Love performed with Linda Perry a little after 11:00 pm.

"We have a special guest coming up in a few songs," Linda Perry said during her set last at L.A's House of Blues, and the crowd responded with overwhelming enthusiasm reports Spinner. "You're actlng like you know who it is," she joked.

Courtney Love opened her four-song set with the title track from her forthcoming new album, 'Nobody's Daughter.' "We made this great record," Love said. "I think [it] is the best thing I've ever done." She then launched into 'Sunset Marquis' and 'Pacific Coast Highway.'
