Murray, who was married to co-star Sophia Bush for only five months before she sought a separation, was a real pill on the set, a friend of actor John Cates told Page Six. Cates played the role of Rusty on “One Tree Hill,� a character that vied against Murray’s Lucas. According to the source, "Chad told producers, 'It's no more John Cates or no more Chad Michael Murray,' because he thought John and Sophia were flirting."

Another snitch on the set said, "Chad was a terror to work with. Writers kept plotting him and John against each other, and Chad took it seriously. He told everyone on set he couldn't stand John, and finally producers wrote him off the show."

Of course a Warner Bros. rap was quick to shoot down the story. The flack said, "Casting decisions are made by the studio, the network and producers. This guest star's story line was wrapped up, and production moved on."
