'Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest' was named Best Movie at this
year's MTV Movie Awards on Sunday night (03.06.07).
Johnny Depp, who stars at Captain Jack Sparrow in the hit series, was also
victorious, picking up the Best Performance Prize.
The 43-year-old actor received a standing ovation when he took to the stage
at the Hollywood event to accept his award.
Thanking audiences, Johnny said: "I'm not very good at this kind of thing,
but I just want to say thanks to all of you guys. I'm deeply touched."
Will Smith's son, Jaden, won the Breakthrough Performance award for his role
in 'The Pursuit of Happyness'. The eight-year-old made his movie debut
alongside his father in the moving tale based on a true story last year.
Veteran star Jack Nicholson won Best Villain for his role in Martin Scorsese
's multi-Oscar-winning movie 'The Departed', while Sacha Baron Cohen added
to his awards cabinet with the Best Comedic Performance prize for 'Borat:
Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan'.
Lindsay Lohan, who had been due to present an award at the event, failed to
attend.
Despite checking into Malibu's Promises rehab center last week, the actress
was rumored to be planning a surprise appearance at the bash.
However, Lindsay, 20, was spotted leaving the treatment center - where she
is scheduled to be staying for a month - to go to church.
But it was Paris Hilton who was the talk of the night. The hotel heiress
attended the ceremony, despite being close to the end of the countdown to
her prison sentence.
Paris, 26, who has now begun her 23-day sentence, said: "I'm definitely
scared but I'm ready to face my punishment. My friends and family and my
fans have supported me and it's been really helpful in this really scary
time."
The blonde socialite checked herself into prison hours after leaving the
bash.
British singer Amy Winehouse entertained audiences with a performance of her
hit single 'Rehab'.
