Sheryl Crow adopts

It was a great Mother's Day for Sheryl Crow, who announced that she adopted her first child on Friday. The 45-year-old singer broke the news on her website, explaining that she had just been given custody of a 2-week-old boy, who she named Wyatt Steven Crow.

The Crow chose for her son was close to her heart. Wyatt is her father's name and both her younger brother and her manager are named Steven. In the statement on her site, Sheryl said, "We are enjoying some very private family time."

Sheryl's rep told People magazine that she is going to cut back on her busy schedule - she just finished visiting colleges on a Stop Global Warming tour - in order to enjoy motherhood. The flack said, "She's just going to take some time off to be a mom."
