Rosie O'Donnell leaves The View
Rosie O'Donnell has decided not to return to The View, ABC announced Friday. "We had hoped that Rosie would be with us until the end of her contract three weeks from now, but Rosie has informed us that she would like an early leave," Brian Frons, president of ABC Daytime, said in a statement. "Therefore, we part ways, thank her for her tremendous contribution to The View and wish her well." The show's co-host and executive producer, Barbara Walters, said in the statement: "I brought Rosie to the show. Rosie contributed to one of our most exciting and successful years at The View. I am most appreciative. Our close and affectionate relationship will not change." Rosie, who had been hinting on her blog that she might depart early, said in a statement, "I'm extremely grateful. It's been an amazing year and I love all three women." The news comes two days after O'Donnell engaged in a heated argument with Elisabeth Hasselback reports Us Magazine . Elisabeth Hasselbeck, 29, the show’s resident conservative has butted heads with the outspoken liberal since she came on board last September reports US.
"I am fine," Hasselbeck, 29, spilled to TV's Extra. "We are used to debating things there. You have women who care a lot about things." Despite the harsh words exchanged, there's no lingering resentment, she says: "The best thing about today is that there's no slow boil, none. It's there, it's an issue, it's dealt with and it's over. If there are tensions, [and] obviously there was, it's dealt with in the moment." |
