Paula Abdul breaks her nose

If Paula Abdul seems extra loopy at this week's "America Idol" finale, she has a good excuse. No doubt some Hollywood doctor will have prescribed her some heavy duty painkillers. The "Idol" judge broke her nose on Saturday, her rep David Brokaw confirmed to People magazine.

While trying to avoid stepping on her Chihuahua Tulip, Abdul slipped and fell, breaking her nose. Said Brokaw, "She went to the doctor and she did break her nose, but she's moving on and doing great. She looks terrific. If you didn't know she broke her nose, you'd never guess anything happened to her."

Paula's injury won't keep her from the performance show tonight, where Jordin Sparks and Blake Lewis have their final face-off. The former choreographer is a real trooper, fighting through the pain. Says Brokaw, "She is in pain. No question about that. But she's standing 10 feet from me and you'd never know anything happened to her. There are no bandages. She's got some bruises on her arms and on one of her legs."

Brokaw claims he does not know whether Abdul was given painkillers for her latest injury. He said, "I have no knowledge of her taking anything. But she's very alert and clear-headed and having fun."

And little Tulip made it through the incident unharmed. Brokaw told People, "Tulip is fine. For dogs, every day is Saturday." Abdul chimed in, "[Tulip] has no remorse. She just stared at me [after the accident]."
