Jennifer Lopez receives death threats

Jennifer Lopez allegedly fears for her life. The actress/singer/designer/etc. has responded to threatening notes by hiring more personal security, claims the New York Daily News.

The threats are coming from an apparent animal rights activist who is upset by Lopez's affinity for wearing fur. Lopez, who has been a target for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals for some time, has been receiving the letters for months, says an insider. The source tells NYDN that the letters threaten "to kill [Lopez] in public, just like the slaughtered animals whose fur she wears."

Jennifer actually did not find the notes that menacing, but her husband Marc Anthony was spooked by them. He insisted that Jennifer take the warnings seriously. Says the snitch, "He has hired two off-duty police officers, in addition to her usual security team, to watch over Lopez whenever she makes public appearances." Lopez's rep denies the story.
