“Grey’s Anatomy? star Isaiah Washington is on his apology tour. Washington will be featured in a public service announcement for the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation and the Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network. The PSA is an attempt for the actor to make up for the gay slur that he used on two occasions to refer to his gay castmate T.R. Knight.
ABC, the network that airs “Grey’s Anatomy,? will film the ad in the next few weeks, claims Howard Bragman, Washington’s publicist. In an interview with the Associated Press, he said, "We're gonna have…at least two versions of [the commercial at this point. We may broaden our message a little.?
After Washington used the slur for a second time he issued a public statement apologizing for his actions, part of which read, “I can neither defend nor explain my behavior.? He also sought counseling in order to transform his negative actions into positive results, personally and professionally.?
Since the incident, Washington’s contract has not been renewed for another season of “Grey’s Anatomy.? Bragman said of Washington’s assumed return to the show, “We've heard nothing to the contrary, and we have no plans to the contrary.?
