Angelina Jolie's Death Threats

Angelina Jolie was terrified to return to New York after receiving death threats for publicly supporting Afghan refugees following the 9/11 terrorist attacks reports Female First UK.

The beauty had visited Afghanistan shortly before 9/11 and spoke out after 9/11 urging Americans not to go to war with the country sheltering the Al Qaeda leader.

She recalls, "I went on a show a few days after 9/11... to say that we needed to be focused on the Afghan people, the refugee families. We were focused on the Taliban as an enemy, and these people were their victims too.

"I got a phone call and two letters that said, very aggressively, how dare I say that we should help anyone else after September 11: 'We should be helping everybody in New York and that's it. F**k you! I hope your family dies, you're anti-American.' "I was so shocked that I was actually nervous the first time I went back to New York a few months later."

Meanwhile, Angelina Jolie has revealed she was haunted by her role as Mariane Pearl, the wife of slain Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl, when she filmed 'A Might Heart.

The actress, who became friends with Mariane after an interview with a magazine, reveals

"The day before we started shooting, I hardly slept and I was in a panic. I had gotten to know her, and I'd gotten to know their son. And he thought that he would see this one day."

"It was my responsibility to not just show the world but also show him how much his mother loved his father and how much they loved each other and how they handled this time. It haunted me," she said.

In other news, Angelina Jolie is taking a year off to spend time with her family.

The actress, who has four children with lover Brad Pitt, plans to finish
filming 'Wanted' in the Czech Republic and then take a break from Hollywood.
She said: "I'm working this summer. I'm in Prague for a few months, then I
take two months off, then I work for two months. And then I take a year off.
"I don't want to live inside a box. I will be smart, but I will lead a very
bold life, and I will learn about the world."

Asked if she would be spending the time off with her family, she replied:
"Yes."

Brad and Angelina have two adopted sons five-year-old Maddox and
three-year-old Pax Thien, adopted daughter two-year-old Zahara and the
couple's daughter together, Shiloh, who turns one on Sunday (27.05.07)
