The singer is in the process of adopting a one-year-old boy called David who had been living in an orphanage near Lilongwe.Speaking of David, Madonna met her adopted son David's father for the first time in Malawi
yesterday (17.04.07).
The pop superstar had tears in her eyes as Yohane, 32, saw his son. Madonna
and her film director husband Guy Ritchie gained temporary custody of David
last October.
The star spent 30 minutes at the Home of Hope orphanage - where David had
been living before he was taken to his new home in the UK.
Orphanage worker Chimbutus told Britain's The Sun newspaper: "David just
grabbed his father's hair and just laughed and laughed.
"Madonna told Yohane that she was proud to be a mother to his son and that
Yohane was part of the family. There were tears in both their eyes."
Madonna, 48 - who traveled to Malawi with 18-month-old David and her
daughter Lourdes, ten - also revealed she was thinking of buying the
orphanage.
Addressing a classroom of children at the home, she said: "I might take over
the orphanage because the pastor here is getting old and about to retire. I
love you and I have all your welfare at heart."
The star pledged to "help Malawi" if the locals would support her in doing
so.
According to reports, the singer is using the trip to adopt a little girl.
Chimbutus said Madonna met and cuddled several orphans, and seemed drawn to
a six-year-old girl called Wezzie.
She also spent time with Chisomo, two, the little girl she had considered
adopting before meeting David on her first visit.
However, the singer is said to have her heart set on a three-year-old girl
called Grace who is being cared for at a different orphanage.
A source revealed: "It was always Madonna's intention to adopt two orphans,
a boy and a girl. Grace is healthy, stunning and has no living relatives."
