Photojournalist Larry Birkhead has been claiming he is the father of the late Anna Nicole Smith’s daughter since the early days of Smith’s pregnancy. It has finally been proven that he is right.

After DNA test results on 7-month-old Dannielynn showed the Larry was her father, he told reporters in the Bahamas, "I hate to be the one who told you this, but: I told you so. I'm the father."

Shortly after Dannielynn was born, Anna’s lawyer and partner Howard K. Stern claimed he was the child’s father. He is listed as the father on Danielynn’s birth certificate. Birkhead contested Stern’s claim and submitted a DNA sample to be tested against a sample from Dannielynn to prove that he is her father. A Bahamas Supreme Court judge suggested that Stern submit a sample of his DNA as well, but Stern denied the request.

After the DNA results were announced on Tuesday, Birkhead said, " My baby's gonna be coming home pretty soon. Things are moving quickly here, and we'll see what happens." Stern, who currently has custody of the child, told reporters, "We're gonna do what we can to make sure that the best interests of Dannielynn are carried . And I'm going to do whatever I can to make sure that [Birkhead] gets sole custody…Larry can come over to the house and spend as much time with her as he wants to right now."
