 | | Keith Richards mixed cocaine with his deceased father’s ashes? | | | | Keith Richards's comment to British music magazine NME that he tried to get high by mixing cocaine with his deceased father’s ashes was a joke reports US Weekly
The Rolling Stones guitarist, who has battled heroin addiction, admitted the
cremated remains of dad Bert were the strangest thing he has ever sniffed.
Keith told NME magazine: "The strangest thing I've tried to snort? My
father. I snorted my father.
"He was cremated and I couldn't resist grinding him up with a little bit of
blow. My dad wouldn't have cared, he didn't give a s**t.
"It went down pretty well and I'm still alive."
The pair didn't speak for around 20 years after Bert divorced Keith's
mother. They were reunited shortly before Bert died aged 84 in 2002.
Keith also revealed his friends once thought he had "died" after a "bad"
drugs binge.
The ageing rocker said: "Someone put strychnine in my dope. I was comatose
but totally awake. I could listen to everyone, and they were like, 'He's
dead, he's dead!' "
On April 4, Keith Richards's rep confirmed to the Today Show that Richards wasn’t being serious.
Keith, who has four children, is aware that his lifestyle has been less than
perfect.
He said: "I was number one on the Who's Likely To Die list for ten years. I
mean, I was disappointed when I fell off the list."
Keith also expressed concern for 28-year-old Pete Doherty - Kate Moss'
lover - who has battled heroin and crack cocaine addictions.
The 'Start Me Up' rocker urged Pete to seek help and dump the supermodel.
He said: "My advice for Pete is that he should shut the f**k up and leave
her. I don't know the man, all I know is he's pushing his luck."
