Kal Penn to teach at U. Penn

The man best known for his role as a stoner is going to teach two classes at the University of Pennsylvania, but neither one will be Wake and Bake 101. Kal Penn, who played Kumar in Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle, will begin teaching in the spring 2008 semester.

Grace Kao, director of U. Penn's Asian American Studies Program said, "The Asian American Studies Program is delighted that Kalpen Modi, aka Kal Penn, chose our program to host his teaching engagement at Penn. Mr. Modi is one of the leading Asian-American actors of his generation and is particularly aware of how his racial and ethnic identification has affected his professional experiences."

The two classes that 29-year-old Penn, a UCLA alum, will teach are called "Images of Asian Americans in the Media" and "Contemporary American Teen Films."
