Hugh Grant skips Elizabeth Hurley's wedding; Hurley skips meals

There were a number of high-profile guests at Elizabeth Hurley's wedding to Indian businessman Arun Nayar on Saturday, but one of Hurley's friends that was notably absent from the festivities was her former boyfriend, High Grant. After Grant split with his longtime girlfriend Jemima Khan - who hated Hurley - last month, many suspected that he would attend Hurley's nuptials at Winchcombe's Sudeley Castle in Gloucestershire, England.

An insider told Us Weekly, "Liz called [Hugh] the day before begging him to come, but he insisted it would not feel right. He didn't want to detract any attention from her big day."

Elizabeth, who is known for her fabulous figure, was on a restrictive diet in the months leading up to Saturday when she donned her Versace gown. A source told Us, "She was eating one solid meal a day and the rest of the time snacking on raw veggies or vegetable shakes. She drunk lots of water and didn't eat any food after 4pm. It was strict, but the results have been worth it. She looks fabulous!"

The Austin Powers actress got emotional during her soon-to-be-husband's vows. A guest told Us, "She looked like she was starting to well up but, like most brides, I think she kept it together in fear of ruining her makeup." Hurley confirmed her crying after the wedding. London's Daily Mail quotes her as saying to Hello magazine, "I cried in the church, during Elton's [John] speech and during our first dance. I'm afraid my stiff upper lip deserted me." Nayar also admitted to welling up, stating, "I have never seen anyone look so beautiful and I was so full of emotion that I had to struggle not to cry. I felt so full of love."

Hugh could still show up for round two of the festivities. Elizabeth and Arun are currently in India to participate in a six-day traditional wedding celebration there.
