Halle Berry talks marriage and kids
If the third time's the charm, Halle Berry will never know it. The twice-divorced actress recently told InStyle magazine, "I will never, never get married again." Though she plans to stay legally single, Berry is still interested in becoming a mother, she confides. Perhaps the lucky father will be her boyfriend of about one year, model Gabriel Aubry. Aubry and Berry met while shooting an ad for Versace in November of 2005. She says of their meeting, "After my last relationship broke up I was feeling like, well, it wasn't that I didn't want to be in a relationship, it's just that I thought it would be okay to be on my own. But [Gabriel] was disarmingly sweet and caring and different. In the past I've been attracted to big personalities. Gabriel was shy. He hardly talked to me at first." Halle's former husbands are baseball player David Justice and singer Eric Benet. She has been open about her problems with her exes and is still choosing honesty when it comes to her relationship with Gabriel. She says, "I had to work at this a little. It wasn't a slam dunk; it wasn't the guy just showering affection on me. It made it more interesting. We were equally matched - put it that way." And when it comes to marriage, Halle has realized, "Now I've come to a place where I think two people can share their lives without the ring, without the piece of paper." Berry was sure to state that while she's eschewing marriage she does want to be a mom. She says, "I definitely want children. Very much." The actress has also thought out the way she hopes to raise her future children. She says, "I want my kids to realize it's only through hard work that any success or real joy comes. It's not about money; it's the intangible rewards - having integrity and doing what you say you're going to do." |
