David and Victoria Beckham, on the verge of splitting up

The strain of keeping up a long-distance marriage is taking its toll on David and Victoria Beckham, with the pair reportedly on the verge of splitting up reports NW MAGAZINE.

So far this year, work commitments have meant the duo have spent just 25 days under the same roof. While Victoria has been house-hunting in LA, David is still committed to his Real Madrid soccer contract and has been holed up alone in Spain.

"They're like ships that pass in the night," says a pal about their seven-year marriage. "Things are quite strained between them and there's been some major rows."

Victoria, 32, is frustrated by having to do all the house-hunting. So tense are things, Posh was seen slamming her mobile phone down after one row.

Asked if she was ready for the big move following David's $318 million deal to play for LA Galaxy, Victoria answered with a terse, "Not right now."

"David is still in Spain ... so I have to text him pictures of all the houses. I know his taste really well, but I still need backup."

But it's not just Victoria who's upset with recent events. David, 31, is reportedly unhappy that Posh has already signed up for a fly-on-the-wall reality TV show documenting their move to LA - going against his wishes for a low-profile family life. "People say we're going to America because we're attracted by the Hollywood glitz," David said recently. "But as a family, I'm not sure we actually enjoy that side of it."

In other news, Victoria Beckham wants to adopt a girl.
The former Spice Girl, who already has three sons, is desperate for a
daughter and believes adopting a disadvantaged child would be the ideal
solution.
A source told Britain's Daily Star newspaper: "Victoria is desperate to have
a daughter to be girlie with. She loves the idea of having a girl to dress
up, play with and make the family less male-oriented.
"She's been spending time with Katie Holmes and seeing her little girl has
made Victoria really broody."
Victoria's friend Jennifer Lopez has reportedly told Victoria about a
Mexican organisation which helps find homes for South American orphans.
If Victoria and her husband David do adopt they will be the latest
celebrities to open up their home to a disadvantaged child.

Victoria's spokesperson refused to confirm the reports.
She said: "Victoria and David respect people who do adopt but they're happy
with their family at the moment."
