According to London's Daily Mail, a friend of Cattrall's confirmed that the movie was going ahead. The insider said, "She and the other girls [Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon] are thrilled that they have finally all agreed to go ahead with the project. They have remained in close touch with one another since the television show ended but there were some disagreements that held up this film." Cattrall herself is quoted as saying, "There is a lot of speculation but just put it this way, I don't want to jinx anything."
Comedian Mario Cantone who played Charlotte's flamboyant friend, Anthony Marantino, revealed that he would reprise his character for the film. Metro.co.uk states he said, "I know the script is being written and I know it will be brilliant because Michael Patrick King [producer/writer/director for the original series] is writing it. I know that I'm in it. I have a nice part in it, I'm told."
Metro.co.uk quotes one snitch as saying, "The movie will be a huge boost to their careers." The insider also gave details on why original plans for the movie stalled, claiming that Cattrall was angered over Parker's $3 million salary, which was twice that of the other three main cast members. "The problem was between Sarah and Kim and it began while the series was still on and lingered after it ended. There was never much chance of the movie taking off until that feud ended," said the source.
