Page Six and In Touch Weekly were the first to break the news about Watts's pregnancy, but the actress' camp kept quiet on the speculation. Then this weekend, the fashion house Escada, which made Naomi's lovely gown for the Oscars, also made a big slip. They issued a press release that stated, "The ESCADA gown set off [Naomi's] most precious new asset – the baby she is expecting with longtime boyfriend Liev Schreiber." With the release published on People magazine's website, it became clear to the couple that it was time to fess up.
On Monday night, 39-year-old Schreiber visited "Late Night with Conan O'Brien," where O'Brien congratulated him on the unconfirmed news. Then Liev broke down and admitted his impending fatherhood, saying, "Yes, I'm going to be a dad. Very exciting."
Schreiber told O'Brien that he was surprised when 38-year-old Watts told him she intended to go to the Oscars this year because she is "normally a wallflower." After Liev "gave grief" to Naomi over her plan to attend the awards show, he said that she responded, "No, no – it's a very auspicious thing that our embryo is going to be at the Oscars."
