The ‘Toxic’ singer entered the Promises treatment center in Mailbu, California on Tuesday night.

Spears was reportedly furious that paparazzi had taken pictures of her in the center despite respect-for-privacy pleas from her manager, and so decided to leave the facility.

It has been claimed that Spears, who recently checked into another rehab facility for a day and shaved her head, was pushed over the edge by Federline’s threats that he would have her hair tested to determine whether she’d been using illegal drugs.

It is believed that the back-up dancer and failed rapper had hoped that the presence of illegal substances in Spears’ body could be used to highlight her shortcomings as a mother in the custody battle for their two children, according to a source quoted in OK! Magazine.

"They had a huge argument," a source told the magazine. "Kevin threatened Britney that he was going to have people test her hair to find out exactly what she's been up to. She was so scared. That was what made her have her head shaved."

"Britney Spears has voluntarily checked herself into an undisclosed rehab facility today," revealed Larry Rudolph, her manager, yesterday.

"We ask that the media respect her privacy as well as those of her family and friends at this time," he said in a statement, which didn’t prevent paparazzi from scrambling helicopters to take photos of the mother of two in the clinic. A source close to Federline told People magazine that the father of her two sons was worried about Spears.

"Kevin is concerned for Britney and his children," a Federline friend claimed.

"Of course he's concerned about her,� they added.

“He loves her. He's always loved her - even after she started divorce proceedings."

Federline reportedly also canceled a trip to Las Vegas to stay in Los Angeles so that he could be available for his children with Spears, according to sources who spoke to People.

.Now US reports, Spears' relationship with her mother, Lynne Spears, has been strained for months over her rampant partying, says a source. "Her mom cries and begs Britney to calm down, but Britney just yells at her and tells her to mind her own business," a source told Us shortly before the singer checked into rehab. "Lynne was at a breaking point."

Over an early dinner at Stevie's Creole Cafe in Encino on Sunday, Spears' father, Jamie Spears, pleaded with his daughter (who was wearing a blonde wig) to enter treatment, according to a friend of the family.

"Jamie just told Britney how much he loves her and that he wants her to get help," says the source. "He told her that he's afraid for her safety and that she needs to take a look at her life and make some major changes or everything is going to get worse. Britney listened to her father and nodded, but was very serious."

After the intense meeting, Britney and her father walked out of the restaurant together at around 5:30 p.m.

Meanwhile, TMZ is reporting that Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) has received numerous phone calls to their hotline ... about Britney Spears!

Sources tell TMZ that the Child Protection hotline received calls on Brit's kids and her recent bizarre behavior. The DCFS provides a 24/7 phone number that any resident in the Los Angeles area can use to report or discuss any issue regarding children.

In other news, Britney Spears' impending breakdown may have been triggered by the death of
her aunt in January , gossips claim.

The 'Toxic' singer lost her aunt Sandra Bridges Covington - her mother's
sister - to cancer in late January, and has had a hard time coming to terms
with her grief.

Britney's aunt Wanda Bridges told the New York Daily News newspaper: "Last
time I saw her was at the funeral. She seemed fine, but we were all very
upset. She finds it aggravating. They can't lead a normal life.
"She's down to earth. They're a down to earth family."

Britney's mother Lynne - who encouraged her daughter to go to rehab for fear
she might lose custody of her two children, Sean Preston and Jayden James -
has now flown from her home in Kentwood, Louisiana, to be at her daughter's
side in Los Angeles.
