In a new interview in the March issue of Harper's Bazaar, Katie Holmes talks married life.
"I have a husband and children that I adore. I have a career that I really love. When I sit back and reflect, it's - wow!" Holmes, 28.
"I am very grateful. Tom makes me feel like the most beautiful woman in the world and has since the day I met him. I love being with him. I love calling him husband."
Katie Holmes also talks about her pregnancy with her daughter Suri, now 9 months. "I felt so proud to be having a baby and so excited," she tells Bazaar. "And I felt closer to other women – to my sisters, to my mom. I felt empowered, like, 'I've given birth. I did it! There's nothing I can't handle.' "
"I've really enjoyed this time that I have taken to be with Suri as well as the challenges of the first couple of months: feeding and pumping, learning to decipher what each cry means – is she hungry? Is she tired? Does she need a fresh diaper? – and figuring out how to really help her."
"I have a whole new set of responsibilities," she says. "My work is very important to me. My family is very important to me. When I go to work, it will be the right thing, worth my time and worth my time away from my family."
Katie Holmes recently down a $2 million deal to star in the sequel to
'Batman Begins'.
The actress was expected to reprise her role as Rachel Dawes alongside Christian Bale for 'Batman: The Dark Knight' but has pulled out
because of "scheduling conflicts".
Rumors have already circulated that Katie has been replaced by 'Wedding
Crashers' actress Rachel McAdams for the comic-book adventure, also starring
Heath Ledger as The Joker.
Katie has instead signed up to star alongside Queen Latifah in the comedy
'Mad Money'.
However, film insiders have suggested she has been struggling to find work
because of her controversial conversion to her husband's Scientology faith.
A source said: "Studios may be gun-shy if her new status as a tabloid
fixture. And her expectations may be raised as the new Mrs Cruise. Stars of
much bigger stature, including Meg Ryan and Demi Moore, have found it tough
to regain their momentum after taking time off."
Cruise's beliefs are also said to be considered 'a box-office liability', which may be why he was dumped by the Paramount studio last summer.
