 | | Charlize Theron sued for wearing a watch | | | |
Actress Charlize Theron has been a fan of Christian Dior for a long time and has often worn the brand's gowns to red carpet events. For the past two years, Theron has also served as the face of Dior's J'Adore perfume. It's only natural she would choose to wear a Dior watch then. Unfortunately for the actress, though, when she did wear the watch, she was sued by Swiss watchmaker, Raymond Weil.
Charlize models for Raymond Weil. In her contract with the company, she agreed to only wear Raymond Weil watches from October 2005 to December 2006. But Theron violated her agreement on March 14 of last year when she "was actually photographed wearing a watch from the Christian Dior line," the company's lawsuit claims. On the date in question, Charlize was at a promotional event for Dior in Austin, Texas.
The suit states that Charlize also "appeared wearing a necklace in an advertisement benefiting an AIDS charity… Plaintiffs were led to believe and had a right to believe by their written agreement that [Theron] would not promote jewelry or watches."
