Representatives for 'Toxic' singer Britney Spears have denied that she collapsed in a club on New Year's Eve.
AOL blog, Vegaspopular yesterday reported that "Spears had been seated on a VIP tented-cabana bed overlooking the dance floor at 12:50AM talking with one of her male dancers. She intimated she wanted to leave and as she stood up, "she went into a dead faint and just fell right to the floor."
Her group pulled her up and lay her on the bed at the same time as her personal security asked for the club to provide at least 10 other security managers to "get her out as quickly as possible." They surrounded the stricken pop star in an attempt to screen her from all observers and the new years revelers on the crowded dance floor.
One woman in the Spears' entourage yelled, "Make sure nobody gets any photos. No photos anywhere."
Britney's manager Larry Rudolph slammed rumors she was drunk, insisting
she was exhausted.
Rudolph said: "She was not drunk, she was just tired and falling asleep. By
about one o'clock she was just done, so we took her out. There is nothing
out of the ordinary here."
Rudolph also denied Britney had to be carried out of the club by bodyguards
or needed medical attention.
Sources tell Star, however, that Britney did enjoy several cocktails before falling ill. Before heading to Pure, she attended a dinner at the Social House restaurant inside, Treasure Island hotel, with an entourage of 27 people. She nibbled on kobe beef and sushi while drinking sake. Once she arrived at Pure, Brit drank Grey Goose vodka and Dom Perignon champagne, said a source at the club. And at least one other report said Spears was seen mixing a rum and pineapple drink for herself.
Britney - who was reportedly paid £150,000 to host the party - arrived at
the bash in a sequined mini-dress and danced to her hit 'I'm A Slave 4 U'
before watching a fireworks display.
The 25-year-old popped open a £2,500 bottle of Dom Perignon champagne and
posed by a Happy New Year cake encrusted with diamonds before falling
asleep.
Meanwhile, Britney's estranged husband celebrated the New Year in Miami's
Mansion nightclub.
He was spotted holding hands with a blonde woman, according to People
magazine.
