Appendix Surgery for 'vodka' lover Lindsay Lohan

Freckled face beauty Lindsay Lohan had her appendix removed on Thursday

The 'Mean Girls' actress called in sick to the set of her latest film 'I
Know Who Killed Me' on Wednesday (03.01.07), believing she had flu.
She visited a doctor who carried out several tests and diagnosed
appendicitis.

Appendicitis means inflammation of the appendix. It is thought that appendicitis begins when the opening from the appendix into the cecum becomes blocked. The blockage may be due to a build-up of thick mucus within the appendix or to stool that enters the appendix from the cecum. The mucus or stool hardens, becomes rock-like, and blocks the opening.

Lohan's representative Leslie Sloane Zelnik said on Thursday: "She does have
appendicitis, and she is getting her appendix removed. There is no drama."
A friend of the actress said: "I'm shocked. I talked to her Wednesday night
and she told me she was not feeling well but she thought it was a
24-hour-flu."

Zelnik says Lindsay is resting comfortably.

Just days ago, a healthy-looking Lohan was hanging out poolside in Miami, along with ex-boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama reports TMZ

Meanwhile, sources tell Page Six , that 20-odd friends were shuffling in and out of Lohan's apartment in L.A. on Wednesday night when she called in sick with the flu to the set of "I Know Who Killed Me" - which will halt production until she's recovered.

Her visitors "were not there to bring her chicken soup," a source said.

Another spy said she was continuing the "constant party she started on New Year's." While celebrating in Miami, Lohan wouldn't allow bottles of liquor near her where they could be photographed - but Page Six received eyewitness accounts of Lohan drinking vodka out of water bottles. This isn't the first time she's stopped production on a movie set due to hospitalization - she was "dehydrated" during "Georgia Rule" and "exhausted" during "Just My Luck."

Exactly a year ago Lohan was hospitalized with "an asthma attack" after
partying over the New Year period.

Also in January 2006, Lohan received 10 stitches at a London hospital after slipping on singer Bryan Adams’ stairs and cutting open her shin on a shattered teacup.

July 2006 found the actress at the hospital once more, suffering from overheating and exhaustion, famously delaying filming on the set of Georgia Rule reports People Magazine

Two months later, in September 2006, Lohan was rushed to St. Vincent’s hospital in NYC with a fractured wrist after slipping at a party.
