The Bosh's favorite celebrities have gone through a lot in 2006. From marriage to babies to divorce, they've faced it all. To show you just how much has changed for them, we thought we would let you compare where they were at the end of 2005 to where they stand now. You all know Lindsay Lohan was our top new story of 2006, so we've included the rest of the top 5 here.
2. Britney Spears & Kevin Federline
In the final months of 2005, a clip of one of Kevin Federline’s songs, “Y’All Ain’t Ready,? was leaked to the internet. It was greeted with much derision. Despite the criticism, Kevin went on to release his first album, Playing with Fire, on Halloween 2006. It was a failure, selling less than 6,000 in its first week. Federline was even forced to give away tickets to some of his live performances when he was unable to pack venues.
In November 2005, Britney Spears reportedly visited a psychic who told her that she would become pregnant with her second child in 2006. Considering her son, Jayden James, was born in September of that year, Britney must have conceived by January, proving the psychic right
Britney and Kevin posed for pictures with their son Sean Preston for the Thanksgiving 2005 edition of People magazine. The threesome was the vision of a happy family. By the same time in 2006, Britney had already filed for divorce.
In December 2005, a group of Spears fans created a website that pleased with the popstar to divorce Federline, claiming that he was a “boil? that needed to be removed. Britney followed their advice less than one year later.
Days before the beginning of 2006, Britney sues Us Weekly over an October story that claimed she and Kevin had made a sex tape. In November 2006, a judge throws out the case.
3. Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt
In November 2005, Brad Pitt’s publicist was denying claims that he had married Angelina Jolie in a secret wedding. Though there have been many reports since that the couple has plans to marry, they are still legally single. In December of 2006, as Jolie promoted her film, The Good Shepherd she confirmed to many reporters that she intends to remain unmarried.
For Thanksgiving 2005, Brad and Angelina went to Pakistan where they visited with the victims of the earthquake that had happened there in October. Brad agreed to give $100 K to a local hospital for orthopedic beds. Thanksgiving 2006 wasn’t much different for the couple. This year they went to Cambodia and Vietnam as part of Angelina’s role as a Goodwill Ambassador for the UN.
In December 2005, Pitt’s publicist confirmed that the actor was in the process of legally adopting Jolie’s two children, Maddox and Zahara. One month later, the couple would announce that Angelina was expecting their first biological child together. Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt was born in May. In recent interviews, Angelina hasn’t ruled out having another biological child with Brad, but said they would like to adopt again next.
In November of 2005, Nicole Richie denied reports that she and Paris Hilton’s friendship ended over any particular incident. She says that they had “just grown apart.? By the end of 2006, Paris and Nicole had reunited and were seen together all over Hollywood.
That same month, Paris and Nicole’s TV show, “The Simple Life,? was purchased by E! The network agreed to buy the show after Fox decided earlier that year not to do a fourth season. The fourth season ended with a cliffhanger as Paris and Nicole finally confronted one another. We all know the confrontation ended well and the fifth season of the show, which has yet to start production, will feature the pals as camp counselors.
In December, Mary-Kate Olsen blabbed to W magazine that she was not speaking with Paris since Paris had stolen her ex-boyfriend, Stavros Niarchos III. These days, Paris is still not close to Mary-Kate, but she and Stavros are on again. Paris and Stavros split in May, but now some sources speculate that they may even be secretly engaged.
PETA named Paris Hilton its worst dressed celebrity in their 2005 list because of Paris’s affinity for wearing fur. By June of 2006, Hilton had sworn off fur after Heather Mills-McCartney showed her a brutal video of the fur-making process. This year, Paris’s friend, Nicole Richie, topped PETA’s list instead.
5. Katie Holmes & Tom Cruise
In November 2005, Tom Cruise refused to allow a stunt double to perform his stunts for Mission: Impossible III. Perhaps he should have let the professionals do their job. The film did not meet studio expectations and was cited by Paramount head Sumner Redstone as one of his reasons for ending Cruise’s relationship with the company.
That same month, a pregnant Katie Holmes told a reporter that she tends ignore gossip about her relationship with Tom. She said, "It's a bit annoying, but I'm not worrying about things like that." By September of 2006, the rumors got to be too much for her, especially when they concerned her daughter, Suri. At that point she had changed her position on press speculation, stating, “It's just not okay...It's really frustrating the amount of s**t that's out there. And the stuff they say about Suri? You shouldn't say that about us, and you can't say that about my child."
At the end of November, Tom went on a Barbara Walters special to talk about his life with Katie. He claimed that they had not yet set a date for their wedding, but hoped to be married in the summer or fall of 2006. About one year later, Cruise and Holmes married in an elaborate wedding in Rome.
Also in November, “South Park? aired an episode called “Trapped in the Closet,? which made fun of Tom’s devotion to Scientology as well as his sexual orientation. Though Cruise reportedly attempted to keep the show from being rebroadcast, he fails and the episode goes on to win an Emmy nomination.
Towards the end of December 2005, Katie celebrated her 27th birthday with Tom and their close friends, Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith in Miami. The two A-list couples are still close. Will and Jada were part of the lucky few that were invited to Tom and Katie’s ultra-exclusive wedding in Rome in November 2006. They were also two of the first people to get to visit with Tom and Katie’s daughter, Suri after she was born in April.
