Nicole Richie arrested for DUI

Now that Nicole Richie is friends with Paris Hilton again, it seems she is trying to emulate her. The starlet was arrested for DUI in the early hours of Monday morning, confirms the California Highway Patrol. The authorities were alerted to Richie's reckless driving by two different 911 calls.

In a statement to People magazine, a spokesperson for CHP said, "At approximately 12:31 a.m., Altadena CHP were notified of a 2005 black Mercedes SUV going the wrong way on the 134 Highway. However, when the officers came into contact with the SUV in the carpool lane, it was at a complete stop facing the right direction, in the city of Burbank. When officers approached, the vehicle was taken off the highway, and Richie was arrested for driving while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs."

Agent John Balian gave People more details of Richie's arrest and said that her bail was posted at $15,000. Her booking sheet stated that Nicole is 5'1" and 85 lbs. She was released at 7 a.m. Bailan said, "She was booked without incident and was cooperative."

Back in September, Richie's "The Simple Life" co-star, Paris Hilton was arrested for drunk driving. At the time, her arraignment was rescheduled for December and should have taken place last week.
